Overview and Placement
Ascend Dance Academy is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 5 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teachers, Melissa Chowdhury and Kristina Nadjafi, who have successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. In the future, we will be able to put those students that desire into exams so that they are able to get feedback on their progression from ABT examiners.
Placement is according to age for all our programs with enrollment age being determined with their age as of Labor Day, with the exception of Creative Movement. Creative movement students are allowed to enroll once they turn 2 years old. If students are in between levels, we will have them do a placement week in the lower level to determine the best possible placement.
